Oran Cooch is an exceptional drummer, percussionist, and highly skilled teacher now working in The Netherlands. With over a decade of dynamic experience in London, UK, Oran has immersed himself in gigging, recording, session work, and teaching, collaborating with top-tier artists including the Magic Drum Orchestra, BBC Introducing's Amelia Rose, ARIE, and Ann Lui Cannon. Recently, he had the honour of playing with Grammy-nominated artist Corinne Bailey Rae and Elbow frontman/BBC 6 Music’s Guy Garvey in the prestigious Roundhouse (Camden) Main Space. Oran’s performances have taken him to the UK’s most iconic venues and festivals, such as WOMAD, The Great Escape Festival, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, and Bristol’s renowned The Fleece.
As a versatile musician and multimedia artist, Oran’s studies at Leeds College of Art have culminated in his art being showcased at London’s Saatchi Gallery and the Royal Academy Online Exhibition. His diverse musical repertoire includes Irish percussion, regularly joining London sessions where he’s played bodhrán and drums alongside luminaries like Mick O'Connor, John Gaughan, and Stornoway’s Oli Steadman.
In addition to his impressive performance career, Oran is a seasoned educator, having taught extensively with Lewisham Music and tutored at London’s Blackheath Conservatoire and Royal Arsenal School of Music. Known for his commitment to sharing his deep understanding of rhythm and technique, he nurtures his students to become versatile, confident musicians.
Now based in Groningen, Oran offers online and in-person lessons, inspiring students with his passion and experience in drums and percussion.
